Abbie Adams is a regular eleven-year old girl with normal problems like a really strict fifth-grade teacher. (Meet Miss Linegar. Rhymes with vinegar.) She's chronically behind in homework, forced to keep a big secret from her very best friend and hoping like heck she can remember all her lines in the drama club play. But Abbie also happens to be a witch and in addition to everything else, she has to cope with stuff like her little brother morphing into a werewolf and trying to eat his first-grade teacher...not to mention figuring out what exactly is up with her very, very peculiar cat.

Fifth-grader Abbie Adams is a witch in a family of witches. When her father, who is trying to find a cure for Witch Flu, brings home a kitten, she realizes that there is something strange about it. It turns out that the cat is Thomas Edison. Her parents do everything they can to make him comfortable while they try to find the right spells to break the curse and get him safely back to his own era before history is changed forever. Abbie is a likable character, and readers should relate to her. She loves her little brother (even when she has to clean up his magical messes), is nervous about her first school play, and wishes she didn't have to keep secrets from her nonwitch friend.

For fifth-grader Abbie, being a modern-day witch can be fun, especially when she gets to do primary research for school by time-traveling. It also brings challenges, such as hiding her family’s magical abilities. Life gets more complicated when her new kitten turns out to be 13-year-old Thomas Edison, under enchantment. Soon, Abbie’s regular worries about performing in the school play or preventing her little brother from turning into a wolf and biting his teacher give way to new concerns about how to remove Tom’s spell and return him to his own time. Abbie’s breezy, personable narrative incorporates droll asides and references to Edison’s life and to famous literature, from Alice in Wonderland to Harry Potter. Her colorfully drawn family includes her physician father, whose attempts at curing dreaded “Witch Flu” add humor and depth. Whether facing familiar issues (fitting in, sibling challenges) or fantastical ones, such as developing and using her magic responsibly, Abbie is an appealing, peppy protagonist who finds that there are “all kinds of magic in the world . . . with or without witchcraft.” Grades 4-6.

The Witchy Worries of Abbie Adams is a wonderful book for tweens. The characters are very relatable but the element of magic makes it an exciting, edge of the seat read. Rhonda Hayter, the author of the novel has worked as an actress and story analyst so she has a great background to enhance her imagination. This really comes through in her writing. My daughter really enjoyed this book.

The Witchy Worries of Abbie Adams is a fun, and an imaginative book that is recommended for ages 9-12. The story and characters are aimed at the tween crowd. It's a regular novel written at their level in an intelligent way. This book will help transition your tweens into reading adult novels and will build their love of reading. Even though I'm not a tween I still enjoyed reading this book, and would recommend this to anyone who likes a good story.

The way that this book is written, I feel that kids can relate to Abbie. Let's face it, being a kid these days comes with a lot of responsibilites. I think much more so than when I was a kid, so the fact that they hear this story about a young girl going through the same struggles, I think, is something that may help kids to prioritize and learn to balance their own lives.

The Witchy Worries of Abbie Adams was a super easy read and the book flowed nicely. I think this book would make a fantastic addition to any childs library.I'm hoping we'll be hearing more about Abbie Adams... it would make for a great series!

FACE CANDY COUTURE REVIEW & GIVEAWAY (*CLOSED*)

Face Candy Couture provides a wonderful variety of handmade natural mineral based eye-shadows at affordable prices. All the colors are awesome and they have a new collection out that I just love! The packaging is great and different! The jars in which the shadows come are clear and come with a cute label on the top and an ingredient list on the bottom. Each jar has a sifter so you can easily control the amount of product that you need, just make sure to store them in an upright postion. The powder is extremely finely milled so it’s easy to apply and blend; even though there’s quite a lot of glitter in some of them they’re still seriously smooth.

I really enjoyed using these Face Candy Couture eye shadows. The colors are so pretty and dynamic. The consistency of the eyeshadow is really great. It is a powder but goes on so smoothly, it seems almost creamy. Face Candy Couture products are long lasting too. I can wear it all day without re-applying! Overall, these are really nice products!

Face Candy Couture mineral eyeshadows would make for a great stocking stuffer for both make-up lovin' teenagers and adults.

I was generously given the opportunity to try several colors of my choosing to try! Here is a sample of some of the eyeshadow I tried:
